What is Profound Microneedling RF?
Profound is a microneedling and radiofrequency device from Syneron Candela. It uses surgical-grade needs to penetrate the skin at different depths and precisely apply radiofrequency to layers of the dermis. Combining these two processes can simulate collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid through neocollagenesis. What is neocollagenesis? Thermal damage to existing collagen creates a wound-healing effect and creation of new collagen. When the deeper layers of the dermis are heated to 65 degrees Celsius (149 degrees Fahrenheit), it causes collagen to wholly denature and signals the body to regenerate the skin’s building blocks. However, researchers have found that rather than fully destroying collagen, it could be partially denatured and still create the same amount of new collagen.
