Your surgeon separates your skin from your abdominal muscles and pulls the muscles together to give you a firm, smaller abdomen. They then stretch the skin over your tightened muscles and remove any excess skin. Your navel gets repositioned and your incisions are sutured together. 

Tummy tuck surgery takes 2-3 hours.

What should I expect after a tummy tuck?

A tummy tuck surgery usually requires an overnight stay in Sanctuary Cosmetic Center’s on-site, state-of-the-art certified surgical suite. When you wake up from your procedure, you might have a tube coming out of the surgical site to drain any excess fluid. Your recovery can last anywhere from two weeks to two months. 

Your provider gives you post-procedure instructions to ensure you get the proper care for your recovery. You’ll have physical restrictions for six weeks to protect your abdominal muscles while they heal. 

Once you’re healed, you can benefit from the long-term results as long as you keep a healthy diet, continue to exercise, and maintain a healthy weight.
