Lip Augmentation Q&A

What is lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a nonsurgical procedure that uses hyaluronic acid-based injectable dermal fillers to enhance your upper and lower lips.

Sanctuary Cosmetic Center uses injectables, including neuromodulators like Botox®, and implants to enhance the appearance of your lips. Lip augmentation can create the look of lip flips, lollipop lips, and the keyhole lip.

Whether you’re young and simply want to add a more seductive look to your face, or older and want to restore volume to your lips, lip augmentation might be your answer.

When you come into the practice for your consultation, your practitioner talks with you about your aesthetic goals to make sure you reach your desired outcome.

What products are used for lip augmentation?

In addition to Botox, a variety of injectable fillers work well for lip augmentation. Sanctuary Cosmetic Center uses the safest products to give you the most natural look possible, including Restylane® and Juvederm®. These fillers contain a local anesthetic called lidocaine that makes the injections more tolerable.

The practice also uses Juvederm Voluma® and Juvederm Ultra® to volumize the midface. When you combine these two products together, you get the best outcome. They give your lips an uplifted border, an enhanced cupid’s bow, and a full red color.

Sanctuary Cosmetic Center develops a customized treatment plan for you that uses the most appropriate injectables to get the fuller lips you desire.

What should I expect after lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation works immediately, so there’s no downtime after the procedure. However, you may experience:

  • Redness at the site of procedure
  • Mild swelling
  • Tenderness in your lips
  • Light bruising

Don’t be alarmed by side effects because they should subside in a few days. The practice recommends that you stay away from aspirin or any products containing aspirin to reduce bruising.

How long does lip augmentation last?

With dermal fillers, your lip augmentation can last 3-6 months. Other augmentations can last up to 12 months. Talk to your provider about the right option for you.
